There are tens of thousands of private medical practices in the United States. A 2012 report from the American Medical Association found that over half of all physicians were self-employed and approximately 60 percent worked in offices owned by physicians. Many more practitioners, such as dentists and physical therapists, run independent clinics, helping patients lead healthier lives. If you own or manage a private practice, the competition might seem insurmountable. How can you stay afloat when facing off against dozens of rivals in your region? What can you do to make patients choose you when they have so many options? At Measurable Solutions, we’ve helped nearly 3,000 practices prosper with our New Patient Course. Read on to learn the secret to overcoming overwhelming practice competition.

Our Story

At Measurable Solutions, we truly understand what it’s like to come up against intense competition. Over two decades ago, our President and Co-Founder, Shaun Kirk, opened his very own physical therapy practice. His business prospered for a short while, but everything changed when he and his partner parted ways. She turned referring physicians against him, causing him to lose 68 percent of his leads. In addition to competing with his former colleague, Mr. Kirk was struggling to stay afloat in a highly saturated market—there were 26 other physical therapy practices within a three-mile radius of his, 14 of which on the very same street!

Despite his efforts to knock on doors and keep his business afloat, Mr. Kirk was barely hanging on. When he had just about given up hope, Mr. Kirk decided to attend a seminar on practice management. A consultant asked him why he wasn’t successful. The competition was fierce, his former partner had damaged his reputation, insurance providers weren’t working with him—it was all just too much. The consultant calmly replied with a tough but true reality check. She told him that he was in charge of his own success or failure, no matter the challenges he faced. Then she asked him how much management training he had (the answer: none).

This spurred him to consider his business strategy and devise new techniques to help his practice prosper. In doing so, he discovered the secret to overcoming his competition. His administrative and promotional methods allowed him to grow his business nine-fold, even garnering referrals from those doctors who’d promised never to work with him after his partner split with him.

Our Secret: Mastering Management and Marketing

Mr. Kirk became so passionate about his new approach that he decided to help other practices share in his success by creating the New Patient Course. This program teaches the skills he learned in building his practice, the means he used to rise above his many rivals. With capable management and savvy marketing, your practice can thrive in even the toughest markets. The secret to beating your competition is learning these innovative business strategies and applying them to your practice. You need to be just as good at running and promoting your clinic as you are at providing care to your patients. During the New Patient Course, we’ll teach you how to implement a 20-week campaign that enhances your reputation, drives referrals, and lifts you above your rivals.

Our Measurable Results

We’re always delighted to hear about our clients’ triumphs in the face of competition with the expertise they’ve gained from the New Patient Course. For example, practice owner Amit Gaglani recently described the current state of his business: “We have been doing very well since I started with Measurable Solutions. I am expanding in spite of the competition. There are at least three large corporations, a few orthopedic physicians that have their own physical therapy clinics, and at least three or four other private practices around me.” Even in this potentially trying environment, his business is flourishing.

Mr. Gaglani explained: “the New Patient Course was the first step to something a lot bigger—my gaining control over my practice instead of my practice having control over me.” His story illustrates what the New Patient Course can do for practice owners—this program can put you back in the driver’s seat of your company so you can prevail even when confronted with tough competition (or, for that matter, any other hardships).
